Program Descriptions:

An Integrative Approach to True Wellness: How Combining Eastern Healing Practices with Western Biomedicine Leads to Optimal Health

   By Dr. Catherine Kurosu

During this two-hour seminar, Dr. Kurosu will discuss how the Eastern healing practices of qigong, tai chi, meditation, and acupuncture can be understood through the lens of Western medicine.  Dr. Kurosu will review the latest research that demonstrates the health benefits of these modalities with respect to the prevention of illness and the treatment of disease.  Strategies for combining Eastern and Western therapies will be examined from the perspective of both the patient and the practitioner.  Case studies will be used to show how mutual treatment goals can be met through this integrated approach.

Eight Brocade Qi Gong for Healing and Prevention:

  By Jeannie Heroux, RN, NP

Qi Gong is a gentle exercise that involves whole body movement, mind focus, and deep breathing to promote smooth energy flow in the body. This smooth flow of energy can benefit all organ systems, promote circulation, remove stagnations in the body, and harmonize the body and brain.  This kind of self-cultivation practice produces powerful healing results.  Eight Brocade Qi Gong is one of the most popular and oldest Qi Gong forms, tracing its origin back 2000 years.  Many people have benefited from this practice.
